August Road Trip in Olympic National Park
This adventure began in Seattle where we picked up a roof top tent for my boyfriend’s pickup. I have to say it’s been a real game changer. We really found the perfect balance between exploring and relaxing.
Diverse Landscapes and Unforgettable Experiences

Visiting the Olympic National Park has been a long-held dream of mine. For Stephen’s birthday this year we decided to make it happen. Unlike previous trips of ours, we opted for more of a relaxed pace- averaging just 200 miles a day. I really enjoyed these slower days.
Our excitement peaked as we arrived at the entrance to Olympic National Park, where a welcoming park ranger greeted us. I rember the giddy feeling as we drove through the dense forest with beautiful moss draped trees to our camp site.
Our first night in the park was spent alongside the North Fork Skokomish River at a stunning campsite. What a peaceful night it was. The water had such has such a astonishingly blue hue and being surrounded by such pristine nature filled us with delight.
The following day we drove the stunning coastal highway 101 up around the northern part of the Olympic Peninsula. We stayed along the Quillayute River close the Pacific Ocean and were treated to the beauty of nature at every turn.

Exploring as many beaches as we could, we headed south down the coast.

The remainder of our vacation we spent exploring the wonders of northern Oregon. We set up camp in the Mt. Hood National Forest, after exploring the captivating mountain, right along the Salmon River.

As our journey drew to a close, we found ourselves in the serene Umatilla National Forest. This tranquil spot served as our final stop, offering a peaceful and reflective note to the unforgettable road trip.
